Mission of the Position

The mission of the contract scientist Microbiology position is to culture and screen Allonnia’s biobank microbes for their ability to perform functions of interest. This scientist will help play a key role helping Allonnia bring transformative, biological solutions to environmental challenges.This role is a contract role that will last 6 months. 

Key Criteria/Requirements

· B.S.+5-7 years or M.S or Ph.D. with experience in microbiology

· Strong hands-on experience in culturing bacteria and fungi, excellent aseptic technique

· Stellar work ethic and a passion for benchwork

· Strong organizational and record-keeping skills

· Demonstrated ability to work independently

· Effective and proactive communication

· Outside to box thinker and creative problem solving

Measurable Accountabilities

· Prepare buffers and media.

· Culture fungal and bacterial strains; Prepare biological samples for laboratory analysis

· Perform a variety of laboratory experiments with microbes that include following, developing, and optimizing SOPs.

· Efficiently plan and manage project timeline

· Maintain a lab notebook; Record and manage data

· Communicate results, observations, and/or issues related to lab equipment, materials and experiments to supervisors

· Comply with all safety standards.
