 Mission of the Position

The primary mission of this position is to manage and optimize Allonnia’s laboratory operations.  The key focus areas of this role are maintaining a strong safety culture; serving as the primary point of contact for chemical storage, equipment maintenance, regulatory compliance, and the management of consumables; and proactively managing the lab space and processes to make the lab as efficient and effective as possible. This position plays a critical role in enhancing laboratory efficiency and safety, directly contributing to Allonnia’s pursuit of remediating contaminants and solving the world’s toughest waste challenges. 

Key Criteria/Requirement

  • 3+ years of lab experience required.
    • Managed chemical inventory and lab supplies.
    • Responsible for hazardous waste shipments and consolidation.
  • A bachelor's degree in a STEM field or a background in STEM-related areas is required.
  • Current RCRA, DOT, and IATA certifications will be necessary, and experience with these certifications is plus.
  • Basic understanding of chemistry and familiarity with industrial safety regulations, including OSHA requirements.
  • High level of organization.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer service.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with both technical teams and facilities.
  • Strong troubleshooting and triage skills to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Must be available for 24/7 on-call duty for emergencies.
  • In Boston office 5 days a week

Measurable Accountabilities

  • Lab Operations
    • Establish (Enhance) a consumable inventory control system.
    • Maintain the chemical inventory.
    • Manage Cold storage samples: Ensure samples are stored in an organized manner, and control sample integrity.
    • Control and oversee pipette inventory, calibration, and maintenance program.
    • Handle, store, and use of various gases in the laboratory.
  • Technical Support
    • Act as a primary point of contact for Technical Team for all lab related communication.
    • Maintain a well-organized lab to ensure optimal efficiency and workflow.
    • Respond to any equipment issues.
    • Coordinate shipping and receiving with building staff.
  • Safety and Compliance
    • Ownership of lab Standard Operating Procedures and enhancement and enforcement of those SOP’s.
    • Execute proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
    • Ensure adherence of all staff to regulatory guidelines, safety standards, and best practices in all lab activities.
    • Perform monthly inspections of safety equipment and decontamination of lab equipment.
    • Must be available for 24/7 on-call duty for emergencies.
