Mission of the Position 

The primary objective of this role, as part of Allonnia’s application development team, is to develop sustainable solutions that decarbonize the mining industry. As part of the D-Solve team, your primary role will be to design and implement innovative experimental plans to develop flowsheets that solve customers’ problems by deploying Allonnia’s  new products that selectively remove impurities and gangue materials from targeted mining ores/concentrates/tailings. 

This is a full time position, with approximately 80% of the time dedicated to hands-on laboratory work in Boston or field work at customer locations and 20% allocated for project management, data analysis, and reporting duties. 

Key Responsibilities and Criteria  

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is required, with a focus in chemical, industrial, or environmental engineering.  Advanced degree is a plus.   
  • Minimum 5 years of mining engineering technical experience with increasing scope and responsibilities, including product design, testing/analysis, engineering documentation, and innovative technology development. 
  • Experience in mineral processing, chemical processing and/or industrial water treatment applications (involving treatment of metals). 
  • Experience with operations and troubleshooting of process engineering.  Specific mining experience is a plus.
  • Experience with innovative design and evaluation of chemical processing systems is a plus
  • Ability to develop process improvements and creatively apply known approaches in new ways   
  • Demonstrated ability to work innovatively and collaboratively across departments to develop new technology.   
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team   
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment. Must be capable of supporting multiple projects that are deadline-oriented, handle interruptions, and be flexible with changing tasks   
  • Passionate about the startup environment, and able to work from ground zero to help bring innovative solutions to the market.  
  • Familiarity with engineering design software (e.g. AutoCAD)   
  • MSHA certification preferred. 
  • Based in Boston office/lab space with travel to test locations as needed.  

Measurable Accountabilities  

  • Assist with the design of mining substrate-specific deployment approaches compatible with customer processes for solutions developed through our mining platforms  
  • Continual identification and documentation of opportunities to improve envisioned deployment processes 
  • Design laboratory experiments to further the process engineering design of our key technologies, tasks could include evaluating mass and water balances throughout the design process  
  • Research and investigate process methods from other application for their use with our technology  
  • Develop process flow sheets based on experimental data and identify key conditions to be further evaluated    
  • Compile and assist with the interpretation of project data  
  • Develop project proposals and reports for customers and partners  
  • Supports and projects the core values and mission of Allonnia both internally and externally.  
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technical development and trends in the field of expertise
