Technical Team Leader - BioCementation

Key Criteria/Requirements

  • Ph.D. in microbiology with an undergraduate degree in chemistry, metallurgy, or biology
  • Minimum 5 years of experimental design experience in bio-cementation, MICP or EICP
  • People manager with minimum 3 years’ experience managing teams and technical development programs, determining project requirements, and developing work schedules for the team.
  • Experience managing multiple labs and projects to success
  • Oversight and Coordination skills, the ability to liaise with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.
  • Ability to Identify risks and form contingency plans as soon as possible.
  • Strong agile project management skills
  • Good communication skills: ability to simplify the complex; ability to translate technical concepts into simple terms
  • Willing to challenge others/critical thinking
  • Boston-based or willing to relocate

 

Responsibilities & Measurable Accountabilities

  • Build and coach a strong team
    • Ensure at least 80% of the team members are A players as defined by the Job Scorecard
    • Conduct quarterly coaching check-ins with all direct reports
    • Ensure individual growth plans (IGP) are complete and progressing for each person on your team
    • Proactively assess team resource needs (@ minimum quarterly)
    • Hire team members required per the growth plan utilizing Allonnia’ s hiring process
    • Foster close collaboration and learning with other Technical Team Leads
  • Technical project oversight goals
    • All projects have documented Figures of Merit
    • All projects have clearly defined fast fail milestones with kill criteria
    • All projects have documented risks and mitigation plans
    • Ensure the scientists deliver high quality scientific experiments and results
    • Ensure technical workstream lead(s) achieves 80%+ of key milestones on time and on budget for the technical portion of projects
    • Identify a project as ‘No Go’ when appropriate
    • Ensure clear roles and communication with Allonnia commercial partners on projects
    • Review all results and presentations prior to CTO/VP approval and submission to customers to ensure high quality communication
  • Technical workstream leadership
    • Lead technical workstream on 3-5 projects at the same time
    • Achieve 80%+ of project key milestones on time and on budget
  • Communication
    • Lead project meetings and team meetings using meeting best practices
    • Ensure consistent and clear communication to Allonnia’s business development team
  • Advancing the Allonnia Brand
    • Represent Allonnia with outside labs
    • Foster technical relationships with development partners
    • Present at 1-2 conferences/associations per year
