Mission of the Position  

The mission of the role is to aid our scientist teams in collecting and analyzing their data and producing data visualizations that convey the key findings.  The role has three key activities 1) to aid our scientists in migrating our internal lab data to a new platform (SciNote) by helping collect and format data, 2)  to work closely with the data science team to prepare data visualizations of lab data and 3) to help with bioinformatics work, such as running pipelines and performing downstream analysis.  This is an hourly position that requires coming into the office a few times a week and will take place from January - June 2025. 

Key Criteria/Requirements  

  • Working towards an B.S. degree in sciences, computer science or data science.  
  • Microbiology or chemistry background is a plus. 
  • Proficiency with R or Python or similar programming languages is preferred (onsite training will be provided to those eager to learn)  
  • Experience with AWS or SQL is preferred, but not required 
  • Coursework in statistics or data science is required 
  • Understanding of data science best practices (including data cleaning) 
  • Strong problem-solving skills independently and with collaborators.  
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in team environment  
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  
  • Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment  
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows and Office tools  

Responsibilities & Measurable Accountabilities  

  • Collect internal lab data from a variety of sources for uploading to new platform (SciNote) 
  • Prepare and organize data for uploading using best practices around format and syntax 
  • Analyze data using best practices including statistical analysis, data quality objectives 
  • Generate data reports to support scientist team 
  • Develop templates for standard data visualizations 
  • Contribute to bioinformatics projects 
  • Execute data checklist for on-going and future projects  
  • Will have the opportunity to develop and run your own Data Science project over the 6 months
